1. Who we are
AIKAN GLOBAL ENTERTAINMENT PTE. LTD. ("we", "us" or "the Company") operates the websites and mobile applications listed on this site, including Aikan (together, the "Services").
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and share it, and the choices available to you. It applies to all users of the Services worldwide.
2. Information we collect
Information you provide: account details such as an email address, phone number or third-party sign-in identifier; profile information you choose to add; the content of messages you send to our support team; and billing information required to complete a purchase.
Information collected automatically: device model, operating system version, language and region settings, app version, a resettable advertising or device identifier, IP address, crash diagnostics, and interaction events such as which episodes you open, how long you watch and which features you use.
Information from third parties: order confirmations from Apple, Google and other payment providers; attribution data from advertising partners telling us which campaign led you to install an app; and aggregate analytics reports.
3. How we use information
We use personal information to operate and deliver the Services, authenticate you, process transactions and unlock purchased content, personalise the episodes and recommendations you see, provide customer support, measure and improve product performance, and detect fraud, abuse and security incidents.
We also use limited information to measure the effectiveness of our marketing and, where you have consented or where permitted by applicable law, to show you relevant advertising.
4. Legal bases for processing
Where the EU or UK General Data Protection Regulation applies, we rely on the following legal bases: performance of a contract with you, to deliver the Services you have requested; our legitimate interests, to secure, analyse and improve the Services; your consent, for optional analytics, personalised advertising and marketing communications; and compliance with legal obligations, including tax, accounting and law-enforcement requirements.
Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.
5. How we share information
We do not sell personal information. We share it only with: service providers who process data on our behalf under written contract (cloud hosting, content delivery, payment processing, customer support tooling, analytics and crash reporting); app stores and payment providers, to complete and validate purchases; advertising partners, where you have given the applicable consent; professional advisers, auditors and insurers; and public authorities where disclosure is required by law or necessary to protect rights, safety or property.
If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing or sale of assets, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your information becomes subject to a materially different privacy policy.
6. International transfers
We operate globally, and personal information may be processed in countries other than the one in which you live. Where we transfer information out of the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or another jurisdiction that restricts transfers, we use approved safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses together with additional technical and organisational measures.
7. Data retention
We keep personal information only for as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy. Account data is retained while your account is active and for a limited period afterwards so that you can restore it. Transaction and tax records are retained for the period required by applicable accounting law. Diagnostic and analytics data is retained in identifiable form for a shorter period and is then aggregated or deleted.
8. Security
We apply technical and organisational measures appropriate to the risk, including encryption of data in transit, access control on a least-privilege basis, network segregation, logging and monitoring, and periodic review of our providers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children's privacy
The Services are not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the higher minimum age set by the law of your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at privacy@aikan-global.com and we will delete it promptly.
10. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to object to or restrict certain processing, to receive a portable copy, and to withdraw consent. Residents of California and other US states with comparable laws may also request disclosure of the categories of information collected and opt out of the sharing of personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising.
You can exercise these rights by writing to privacy@aikan-global.com. We will verify your identity before acting on a request and will respond within the period required by applicable law. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Within the applications you can control push notifications, reset your advertising identifier and, on iOS and Android, revoke previously granted permissions through the operating system settings.
11. Cookies and similar technologies
Our websites use strictly necessary cookies to route requests and keep sessions secure. Where required by law we ask for consent before setting analytics or advertising cookies. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies; doing so may affect how parts of the site work.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes to the Services or to legal requirements. When we make material changes we will update the effective date shown above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice inside the applications.
